We named the house for the impressive creek that borders the property and runs all the way from Aberfelda Hills to Mad River. The creek is small but mighty, with beautiful falls along its gorge. A good bit of lore is associated with Rock Run, including the story that Tecumseh and his followers escaped the Battle of Picawe along the creek, knowing that it would be difficult for the troops to follow after them through the narrow ravine.
I look for arrowheads and other signs of previous human inhabitants. So far, no luck. I’ll keep looking, however, especially after tbe a period of wild rainfall, just like the one we’ve had lately, when the brown muddy torrent creates upheaval in the creekbed. The changing character of Rock Run is just another fascinating aspect of living here.
