We just wrapped up a busy weekend for our family, with two of our kids performing in an adaptation of The Hobbit. The play was a delight; the cast had a great time, and everyone involved is exhausted.
My daughter and I attended a baby shower for my niece this past Saturday as well. The shower featured a bit of a bread theme as my niece grew up in Germany, the Land of Bread. In light of this, her mother and sister created a beautiful table filled with lovely things to eat: a German-style breakfast with plenty of bread and meat and cheese, along with other delights.
All this to say I had trouble keeping up with my usual baking schedule, so things were a little light at the Breadstand this past weekend. I hope to be back up to speed for the coming week, with maybe a few extras in light of the Easter holiday on Sunday. A few years ago I made hot cross buns. I would love to do this again, though traditionally I believe they are eaten on Good Friday, not Easter. I hope to pull it off and will be sure to post on Facebook and Instagram if the buns are available on Good Friday.
In other Breadstand news, Paul put the roof back on the Breadstand and secured it tightly — hopefully no more tumbling over in the wind. He also made repairs to the barn siding, so he has been very busy on top of his usual vast list of Things to Take Care Of.
Upcoming…
We have a few open seats for this week’s upcoming Sourdough Workshop on Thursday, April 2nd from 6-8pm. I’ve received some good feedback lately from folks who have taken the class — that it has really helped them in their quest to make their own sourdough. I loved hearing this, as such an outcome is the goal of the class. I hope that we can all grow more independent and confident in our ability to feed ourselves and our families with good, nutritious bread! Click the link HERE if you want to check out the details about the Workshop and sign up to attend.
Our Spring Tea & Garden Party on May 9th from 1-3pm. Tickets can be purchased HERE. This event is a fun, inspiring, and tasty way to celebrate this lovely time of year.

That’s it for now. I hope your week is filled with seed-starting and daffodil collecting. Our rhubarb and asparagus have broken through, and I saw my first violets in the yard today. These signs of spring are a sight for sure eyes, to be sure. I’ll be back next week with another blog update. In the meantime follow on Facebook and Instagram to see what’s happening at Rock Run House!
